Do you know the answer?

Help us discover the most tweeted topic in all of twitter history. The emails or comments will be pooled together, sorted, and written into a series of posts covering this quest. Categories will include people, celebrities, politicians, Nobel Peace Prize winners, peace ambassadors, travelers, people who have accomplished great feats, Miracles, Elections, Economy, Blogging, Twitter, Freelance Writing, Food, Family, religion, spirituality, disasters, X Files, phenomenon, discoveries, space, mysteries, education…etc.

That’s a start. The categories are endless but this gives you an idea how we will attempt to sort the topics as they come in. Once a substantial amount are received on one topic or category, the information will be outlined, reviewed and summarized on The Twitter Files. We’ll give the readers a chance to check our facts to verify. In a matter of time, say, six months, we’ll post the findings on the winning most famous tweeted topic of all twitter history.

How to Participate

  1. Surf Twitter and Twitter History and make note of topics that dominate the internet. Look on blogs and websites and search engines for twitter topics that have been tweeted on the official twitter site. That would be http://www.twitter.com. This could take some work so it will be an ongoing project. Take notes to keep track of your findings.
  2. Look at your tweets. Notice the topics you most tweet about. Write a list of the most common. Compare this to all of twitter for a comparison. You’ll probably find other topics that outrank yours but that’s okay. Keep the information till you finish your quest.
  3. Submit your findings to us in one of three ways: Leave a comment below or email themidnightwriter1@gmail.com or tweet us with a Direct Message at @thetweetfiles.

We are genuinely seeking nominations for the person or persona on Twitter that readers deem to be the most famous of all time. There will be other nominations for certain years or time periods or events. First we want to grace the page with the all time most famous person ever talked about on twitter since its inception.

Criteria will be set according to the following:

1.Tweets must add up to the most ever.

This is where we need some devout twitter lovers to surf the twittersphere in search of this unanimously famous twitter person.

2. The Nominee must be a “real” person.

3. Tweets must searchable in the twitter archives or on a search engine.

4. Tweets must out number retweets.

5. The Twitter Nominee must still be active and hold a current Twitter account. Provide the url for that Twitter account if you believe you have found the winning Nominee.

6. Retweets are accepted in the count but cannot be made by the person making the submission.

7. Retweets about the most famous person on Twitter must have occurred before the onset of this contest. Today’s date is Sunday, October 11, 2009.

That’s about it for the rules. If we think of anything else, we’ll post an update here. All the guidelines will be transcribed in the near future on our Twitterdome page.

We’ll think of some way to show our gratitude to the person submitting the winning entry as well. Thanks for making Twitter real.

Really cute, huh? Is it the downfall of society or are we redeemable?

You might be wondering out of all the topics on Twitter, why on earth did I choose this video from @ijustine. Well, this is really funny. I was in the bathroom, “pondering, as I do at times”, when this song came into my head. Rockin robin..then I was singing rockin twitter before you know it…the whole rendition of the rocking twitter song spilled from some place deep inside of me.

I was so excited about a new idea for a video on The Twitter Files!

I went in search of such a video …if indeed one existed.

And it did! Thank you Justine. You rock!!!

I posted the video on The Twitter Files and then decided that I needed to tweet about it on Twitter. So I did.

And guess what?

After I prepared the tweet to announce the post about the Rockin Twitter song, @ijustine sent out a tweet about catching a plane to New York.

The Twitter website is a new user’s best friend. Everything your really need to tweet can be found on the site including:

  • Send tweets out to all your followers
  • Read your direct messages
  • See the brief bios of the people you are following
  • See the brief bios of the people who are following you.
  • See the tweets of the people you are following
  • Share links with your followers
  • See the most talked about trends
  • Search for a specific keyword

Designed for the new user or those who primarily tweet using their cell phones. If you don’t want all the bells and whistles then tweeting via the website is ideal for your needs.

The Positive: The site is easy to use regardless of your familiarity with twitter. It’s nice to have everything you need on one site and even if you use other applications to tweet you will still find yourself going back to the site to make changes to your profile and settings.

The Negative: Recent updates have made the site a lot better than it was when I first started tweeting but it’s by no means perfect. The only real complaint I have about tweeting via the web is that you have to constantly refresh your page to see new updates from the users you are following. The site doesn’t give you a notification telling you that there have been updates since your last refresh. (FYI: If you use the search box function to follow a particular keyword or trend you will get a notification of this type.)

    John Lennon : The New York City years was featured on the sidebar announcing a feature exhibit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Annex NYC.

    What’s so cosmic about it?

    NascarKaty, President Barack Obama & John Lennon all on my page at the same time, that’s what!

    Why?

    This blog and twitter account was launched today. Katy is a good friend and freelance writer who inspired me to create this blog my one of her posts that contained a twitstamp and her declaration of being addicted to twitter. She also gave a rave review of the site when I first began building it and offered to help promote it. Because of Katy’s feedback and enthusiasm, I hit twitter and blasted the news about The Twitter Files and its “mini me” thetweetfiles on twitter. The response brought these three people to my page at the same time.

    President Barack Obama because, well, obviously he’s the President and a very busy man. My site was only really hours old so it is more than coincidence that he should happen upon it to follow me back and then DM me at thetweetfiles. Besides, I have done some blogging on http://BarackObama2012.blogspot.com and I intend to write there again soon.

    John Lennon. What do I need to say? He’s a monumental figure in history and I admired him. His music still inspires me to this day. My favorite is the featured song in the video at the top of this post “All We Are Saying is Give Peace a Chance”. I’m a peace activist who gathers every year in the national forest with all religions, cultures and creeds to pray for peace on earth.     We are live on twitter so please follow us @thetweetfiles, It was amazing to see that Twitter would not allow me to set up a user name with the word Twitter in it in any form. It’s funny because the domain name of this blog contains the word. So I chose thetweetfiles as a close compromise. At least its similar.

    The profile page is set with a photo that I took myself at Snake River Canyon in Twin Falls, Idaho. That’s one of my favorite places to visit so I chose that. I hope you like it.

    As for the profile image of the little twitter bird working on the computer while lying down…it is just so cute. I couldn’t resist it! He is the icon to be identified with our persona from now on. You will see lots of little twitter birds on this site as signatures and reminders that the social site Twitter is the reason this blog exists.

    There will be contests for people to enter their favorite twitter bird images with some prizes. I’m not sure if that feature will happen every month or every week. It depends upon the stamina of our newly developing team, and yours truly, one of the main developers and writers during the pre-launch phase.

    If you notice that I jump from I to we and vice versa don’t think that I forgot how to use pronouns. I do it because I’m the one writing but my references include my partner and spouse, Cephas, and some friends who will be writing on or promoting this site.

    It occurred to me that there are lots of important tweets regarding life, tragedy, war, peace, business, advertising, freelance writing, politics, Hollywood, stars, music and musicians, celebrities, diplomats, travel and every conceivable thing.

    I want to run a section in The Twitter Files “Just for Fun”. I’m not sure of the layout or the posting rules or content, so let me ponder that a little while. I’ll get back to you on it.
