The Twitter Files Welcomes The Midnight Writer

Take me to your leader….sorry, I couldn’t resist the theme we seem to have going on around here. The Midnight Writer is the owner of this page and is assembling gurus to help out. To learn more about The Midnight Writer keep reading.

I’m The Midnight Writer and I love Twitter. You could tell, right? Anyway, The Twitter Files is my brain child but it came with inspiration from others like my good friend Katy, my husband Cephas, and all you tweeters out there who faithfully hit the fast moving stream to input your thoughts daily on this world wide micro blog.

I’m not a Guru, but I’m a Guru wannabe. So I’ve called in someone with a little more experience than me. Her name is Katy Lindamood and she’ll be keeping you all informed as our first Twitter File Guru. Listen to her advice because she is a professed Twitterholic so you will probably learn a lot from her experience.

I’ll let Katy properly introduce herself. Please give her a big welcome.

The Twitter Files Welcome Katy:

Katy is our first Guru and will be explaining the differences between all those twitter apps…Katy will focus on online/computer tweeting and not mobile phone tweeting. Keep reading to learn about Katy and her love of Twitter.

Welcome to The Twitter Files. We are happy to have you here. Let me introduce myself. I’m a self proclaimed twitter addict who loves twitter so much that it’s become a constant on my computer. Without twitter and google reader I doubt I’d be able to make it through the day a sane person.

Maybe that sounds crazy to you but I’m completely and utterly fascinated with this form of social media. It’s gotten so bad that I have multiple accounts for certain functions. My husband thinks I’m nuts and my family just stared at me with that “what’s that twitter thing again” look when I bring it up. I have to admit that was my initial reaction. I know there are people out there with more experience than I have with twitter and who have zillions of followers. I’m not saying I know everything about twitter but in the months since I’ve started using it I’ve learned a lot.

When The Midnight Writer informed me of this effort I was immediately on board. I had dozens of ideas and tons of information to share about my experiences with twitter; experiences that might help you out in learning the basic, picking a method of tweeting, and marketing. If there’s an app out there for your computer that can be used to tweet I’ve tried it. I like some, hate others, and believe they all have a use depending on your twitter personality.

Around here they call me a guru. I don’t know if that’s the right title for the job but it’s certainly one I’m willing to try.I will be acting as your “Twitter Guru for all online forms of tweeting”. That means I’ll be reviewing various twitter applications, making recommendations, and pointing out some of the pitfalls of each. There are dozens of sites out there offering similar information but the problem is sorting through the 100 pages of irrelevant info to find that one kernel of knowledge. Here at The Twitter Files we are hoping to provide everything you need to get started in one convenient location. We hope you enjoy this journey we are about to embark on.

Here’s some fun stuff I thought you might like to know about me.

• Profession – I’m a full time freelance writer covering multiple topics though my dream job is to become a full time NASCAR writer.

• Number of twitter accounts – 3 – yes that’s right 3.

@trappedinoffice is where I connect with other writers and bloggers.

@NASCARKaty is where I tweet during the races and promote my work.

@katylindamood is hopefully going to combine the best of both worlds. See, I told you I was an addict.

• Preferred method of tweeting – I’ve got pretty much every app for twitter on my computer though lately I’m a huge fan of HootSuite. I’ll explain more about that later and why I enjoy it.

• The best thing I’ve ever tweeted – As writers we know no other way. We have to be attention whores or we will get swallowed by the competition.
